FEEL AT HOME DISABILITY SCHOOL FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
Sister Dithole had called the principal of the above school in the fall of 2021, just to check in. The principal had informed her that the students have not been going to school since the pandemic. She explained how hard it had been hard for the students who mostly came from poverty-stricken communities. They used to be given meals at the school cooked by teachers. The principal said she would solicit food from individuals, cook at the school and then delivers meals to the children’s homes using public transportation. Instead of the three meals they used to get from the school, they now get only that one meal delivered daily by the principal. So, the students were stranded in their own homes, living under impoverishment.
As the sponsor of the project, it is my prayer that COVID comes to an end so that UWAO can continue with her fundraisers to support communities living in destitution.
Update on the Project (FALL 2021)
Feel at Home students have gone back to school, but they are still struggling to make ends meet. The van they had to transport students broke down. They have to use public transport and it’s not been easy. They also need help in buying material to make uniforms. They cook two meals for students at school every day. I must say I was very impressed with how well people follow and respect Covid Protocol in South Africa. Thank you. Dithole.
